At APHS the Wellbeing Team has started to implement a breakfast program in order to provide students with the best possible start to the day. The Breakfast Club includes healthy options such as cereals, Up and Go, toast and fruit, and is available to all students.
In order to find out more, we had a chat with Student Support Officer, Amy.
Who Sponsor's all the food for the breakfast club?
It is a company called food bank.
Roughly how many students come to the breakfast club?
We usually have around 30 students but on Wednesday the 15th of March we had close to 40 students which means its getting bigger which is exciting
Why is breakfast club so important?
It’s important because some young people may not have access to food at home or they might be running late that day. So knowing that there are some items available for free for them to have is very helpful for them, which sets them up for the day too because it's really important to have something in your belly before you start your school day.
What are the plans for the future for the breakfast club?
To hopefully continue it because it has been going really well. We might also start looking at including different items such as toasties or something so there is another option for people. I've also wanted to put some music out there and there are also going to be some picnic blankets out there so people can sit on the grass.
