Kookaburra
Habitat:
The Kookaburra inhabits eucalyptus forest and woodlands in Eastern Australia. They use the trees for perching and nesting and they hold their territory all year round. A Kookaburra’s call is used to establish territorial boundaries and shorter calls are used to interact with family members or to find mates.

Diet:
Kookaburras can eat insects, reptiles, amphibians and some small animals. Kookaburras have been known to kill snakes up to 3 feet long. They hunt snakes by grabbing the snake behind the head, and using their bill, hammer it against the ground.

Fun Facts:
Kookaburras are approximately 39 - 42 cm tall and weigh 196 to 465 grams.
Their beak can grow to about 10cm long.

A kookaburras mating season starts between October or November.
