Speakers also have to deliver a 2 minute impromptu speech, where they are given a topic then have 5 minutes to prepare the speech. The speakers are then given feedback by the adjudicator to help with future public speaking.
This year, students were required to deliver their speeches via ZOOM due to COVID restrictions. This had both positives and negatives, though overall, presented a great opportunity for all involved.
“It didn’t give us the full experience due to technical difficulties with ZOOM, however it was great not having to do it in front of a large crowd - that was great! Overall, it was a great opportunity for me, despite the restrictions involved.”
