We use Sentral… We all use Sentral. The teachers, students and parents. It is used for students to find their next period, for teachers to mark the roll and for parents to see notices. But, all of a sudden, early January 2024, it changed. I don’t mean one more button, I don’t mean one more feature, I mean that… Oh well, I might just list the things that have made the school mad.
The Changes
One obvious change is that the main colour is now orange.
The timetable for students is hidden in a dropdown. But that is only the daily timetable, it takes 2 more button presses to get to your fortnightly timetable.
The main page shows the student's feed.
You can now message teachers.
It shows all your main teachers for all your subjects under your user.
It now has buttons for Home, Messages, Timeline, Newsletters, Daily Notices, Resources and Log out.
It now has dropdown menus for Attendance, Academic Reports, Timetable, Timeline, Wellbeing and Published plans.
It now shows the date enrolled since the start of APHS.
It now shows your roll class with the teacher’s name.
It now shows your house (Buru, Guruwin, Gugara and Munda).
It now shows your latest school photo above your name.
Removed Features
The Gallery (A slideshow of uploaded photos from you)
Diary (A section where you can write what happened today. You could also look through old diary entries)
And a bunch of other stuff.
Here are some questions we asked the office ladies.
Who looks after the Sentral program?
Principal, DP’s and SASS Staff.
What were the intentions of the change?
Sentral updates the screens/pages, not the school.
Do you like the change personally?
Some of the screens are harder to read.
Sentral, the company, changes what we see on the website.
So we may never know, but hopefully this change can adapt to us. I mean, the new year 7s will never know.
