Students Go Berserk for Hamilton

On the 16th of February Albion Park High School took students to The Hamilton Musical in Sydney, Australia. The 29 students all expressed an interest in either music, creative arts or were a part of the CAPA committee at school.

Hamilton is a popular broadway musical written by Lin Manuel Miranda, telling the story of America and its founding fathers in 46 songs that are either sung or rapped by performers. Lin Manuel Miranda also created songs for Encanto, Tick Tick Boom, Moana and more. He’s well known for originally playing Alexander Hamilton in Hamilton (2015) along with being the lyricist, composer and playwright for the show. A recording of the original cast performing the show is available on Disney+.

After a talk with Mrs Keen of the Music staff room, it was clearly expressed that Musical Theatre should be experienced by everyone at least once, and the Hamilton excursion was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“Everything was cancelled because of COVID… we were very lucky to see the show and it was an amazing opportunity for the students.”

It was a great night and students hope that more excursions to the theatre will arise soon.
