Year 12 Celebrate English Extension 2 Submission

After a year of hard work, three Year 12 Extension 2 students have just submitted their major work. Following many cheers, tears and...possibly...beers, their final products were turned in with great success. After talking to Jordan Isaac, Year 12 Extension 2 student, we find out a little bit about the struggles and successes involved with putting together a major work.

Well done girls!! APHS is proud of you.

Interviewer: What made you want to do Extension 2 English?

Jordan: I had a massive interest on doing a work of my own that I could reflect parts of myself in.

Interviewer: Would you recommend Extension 2 English to current Year 11 students (and Year 10 students with this in the back of their mind) when picking their subjects?

Jordan: Absolutely. I wish this was a course that you could do in Year 11 as well. It was a great opportunity. Everything about it was awesome.

Interviewer: Could you give the audience some detail about the requirements for the course? What were you required to do?

Jordan: It was very broad. We had a lot of creative freedom We had to focus on something we were passionate about and choose our film - it could be a film, multimedia, poetry, imaginative writing. Basically, we needed to be original and stand out.

Interviewer: So, what did you do?

Jordan: Originally, I wanted to make a Hollywood movie, but I could only have 8 minutes. So basically, I tried to compress this massive idea on crime, punishment and the multifaceted self and turn that into a script. My story was about a person with multiple personality disorder being investigated for a crime.

Interviewer: Was the task more challenging than you thought?

Jordan: I think anything you do when you're passionate about it is easier than you would think. The task goes over an entire year, but because you're passionate about it, it ends up flying by. We did most of this at home. At school we were able to bounce ideas off each other - it was great. Time management was a huge skill that we learnt! We did not leave enough time, and this was a huge thing we learnt. It was a balancing act, and procrastination was a killer.

Interviewer: Is there anything else you would like to tell prospective Extension 2 students?

Jordan: Some advice - do not procrastinate. When you are passionate, don't leave it to the last minute!
