The Creative Corner: Home Sweet Home

A heartfelt imaginative piece that effectively conveys the emotions of many teenagers. Composed by one of our amazing Year 8 team members.

Charlie, a young girl with a passion for art, was lost in her own world as she sketched a beautiful drawing in her room.

Suddenly, her peaceful moment was interrupted by the sound of her mother's angry footsteps storming into the room. Without any warning, her mother started yelling at her for no apparent reason. Charlie's heart raced as she sat anxiously on her bed, feeling confused, upset, and scared all at once. As her mother continued to shout, Charlie couldn't help but wonder what she had done wrong. She had always been a good daughter, obedient and respectful. Yet, her mother's sudden outburst made her feel like she was a failure.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she tried to make sense of the situation. Eventually, her mother's anger subsided, and she left the room without saying a word. Charlie was left alone, feeling hurt and betrayed.

Charlie sat on her bed, feeling worthless and alone. Her mother had just yelled at her, and she couldn't understand why. She had always looked up to her mother, but now it seemed like her mother hated her. Charlie didn't know what to do or where to turn.  As she sat there, tears streaming down her face, Charlie couldn't help but wonder what she had done wrong. She had always tried to be a good daughter, but it seemed like nothing she did was ever good enough for her mother. She felt like she was constantly walking on eggshells, never knowing when her mother would explode in anger. Charlie continued sitting on her bed, her eyes fixated on the floor.

She kept wondering what she did wrong to make her mother hate her so much. Was she annoying? Was she just pathetic? Or was it something else…
