Ode to a Lizard (AKA Frodo my blue tongue)
Oh scaled thing in golden rays,
Seeking warmth on bleak and chilly days.
Shelter seek you amid my flowers,
No sense of time, adrift in hours.
In my garden find your space,
To some a scourge to me your grace.
If Coleridge were to behold you here,
He would not flee in shock or fear.
A Romanticist would surely see,
The mark of God that lies in thee.
For natures creatures far and wide,
Deserve a sunny place to hide.
From afar a watchful eye I keep,
Lest predators stalk you in your sleep.
